Talk to me…. You do this too right?! Let’s talk Talk to me…. You do this too right?!

Let’s talk spices and herbs ⬇️
If you ever come across spices that clump together that doesn’t mean they are old. Humidity has gotten in the bottle- easy fix just grate the spices on a micro plane over your recipe!

One of the easiest ways to make your food delicious is add tons of spices and herbs. Packed with flavor and so many nutrients which is such an easy way to diversify you diet.

When cooking I always use 2-3x as much herbs and spices as a recipe calls for. One of my favorite techniques with spices is blooming.

Have you ever bloomed your spices ?

If you haven’t I have a treat for you! When you bloom your spices it deepens the flavor and takes any dish to the next level.

You want gently frying them in oil, Try it with whole spices or ground—cumin, coriander, and fennel are favorites. Cook just until the spices smell nice and toasty but make sure you don’t burn them! Ground spices will bloom faster than whole so make sure you keep an eye on them.

Do you have any favorite spices? Mine are from @burlapandbarrel

Make the brown sugar cinnamon layer. In a small bowl combine coconut sugar, cinnamon, coconut oil, almond butter, vanilla and salt. Mix until well combined.

Press about 2/3 of the mixture into the bottom of the pan and then spread brown sugar mixture on top evenly. Top with remaining shortbread.
